• Botanical Overview: Chamomile is a small, perennial plant, approximately 30 centimeters tall, with a fragrant scent that grows in meadows and sandy soils. Its stem is whitish-green in color, its leaves are small, alternate, with narrow, irregular incisions, and are covered with hairs. Its flowers are clustered in a raceme that appears singly at the end of the flowering stem in summer. Each flower has white flowers around the edges and yellow flowers in the middle.
• Chemical Composition: Chamomile flowers contain the essential oil of Anthemine, tannins, phytosterols, and a bitter substance called Anthemique Acid.
• Medicinal properties: According to ancient Iranian medicine, chamomile is hot and dry and is considered a bitter stimulant.
